Mailchimp: A Micro Friendly Mailer

Why do we use Mailchimp and consider them to be a great micro friendly option for other micro businesses? They’re reputable, they have flexible pricing options, they have a free plan, and they don’t do annual contracts!

You can always trust mailchimp to send out your emails in a timely manner. They’re a big competitor in the email automation space and therefor are less likely to have bugs and significant outages. They’re trusted by all sizes of businesses, large and small. Being larger means they have lots of self created tutorials and educational content to learn their systems and lots of third party content is created as well. If you’ve got problems it’s usually not too difficult to speak with a real person via live chat and in our experience they’ve been helpful and able to resolve our issues.

Mailchimp’s pricing is affordable and flexible. A note though, the pricing is based on how many contacts you have.

Price is set in USD so the CAD prices change with exchange rates. These prices are the USD prices.

Having the different plans are great for micros as every businesses needs are slightly different. They even have a pay per send plan for people who send email infrequently! To see all the details about their plans click here.

As you can see in the photo above Mailchimp also has a free option. We really like when services have free options as it gives micros a chance to try out a service and see how it works before they spend money and all the time setting it up. The free option will be good enough for a lot of micro businesses and it’s only draw backs are limited automations, limited design customization, and a Mailchimp logo at the bottom of the email. For a micro business just looking to stay connected with their customers or their sales funnel the free option might be plenty, but if it’s not you’re able to choose from their paid options.
